The start of the fall season is a special time for us here at Annandale Village. It marks the return of our annual gathering of family, friends and supporters for Family Weekend. On September 23rd and 24th, hundreds will travel across the United States to gather on the campus of Annandale Village for Family Weekend 2016. The weekend festivities will give Annandale Village an opportunity to showcase its programs and services, as well as to provide opportunities for learning, fellowship and recognition for the many accomplishments of our Villagers throughout the year. As designed, our Villagers will serve as the focus of the weekend celebration and play an integral part in the weekend activities. The weekend will culminate with our annual Dinner and Awards Celebration as we honor and recognize the many Villagers, staff, volunteers, families, and supporters that have been instrumental to our success. The evening’s festivities will also include music and entertainment provided by Villagers and guest performers.

OUR STORIES: A PHOTO EXHIBITION FEATURING THE MEN AND WOMEN OF ANNANDALE VILLAGE | 7:15 PM – 8:30 PM
“Our Stories” began as a simple project to photograph each Villager on the Annandale campus. Somewhere along the way, it turned into something much more significant. We believe these photographs and quotes and short stories to accompany will provide the opportunity to see beyond all labels or disabilities, presenting our Villagers as the beautiful, vibrant individuals that they are.

Cumberland Trust, an independent trust company with a dedicated Special Needs Trust department, will lead this informative session to help our families understand the complexities of the world of trusts and estates. This special learning opportunity will detail ways to protect the eligibility of a person with disabilities for needs-based benefits, while assuring a better quality of life over and above the basic needs provided by those benefits. As a Special Needs Trust can be a hedge of protection in dealing with the uncertainties that life brings for a person with disabilities, it also can provide supplemental resources for any needs not covered by public benefits, often including medical and dental expenses, transportation, training, rehabilitation, or essential dietary needs.
