Meet the Candidates for Kiss-A-Pig 2015

Kiss-A-Pig LogoThe following community leaders are vying for the opportunity to pucker up and kiss a pig in support of programs and services for men and women with intellectual disabilities and those that have experienced a traumatic brain injury. Vote for your favorite candidate by making a tax-deductible donation to Annandale Village. Each dollar donated equals one vote. The candidate with the most votes received by “InHOGuration Day,” June 30, 2015, will be named the winner of Annandale’s 2015 Kiss-A-Pig Campaign.


David Cross is a Senior Vice President-Wealth Management and Wealth Management Advisor with Merrill Lynch in Duluth. He is the team leader for The Cross Group and is a qualified Portfolio Manager. An advisor since 1991, David focuses on client relationships, wealth management strategies, risk reduction, and asset allocation to meet the needs of clients and their families. He is adept at communicating financial strategies in an easy to understand way without the use of financial jargon. David holds the designations of Certified Portfolio Manager and Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM. READ MORE
Mike Dominy has been in the business of growing Gwinnett and its surrounding counties since 1981, after moving to the area to work with the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce. Dominy has held senior management positions with Mobil Land Development Corporation and A.R. Weeks and Associates (now known as Duke Realty), where he focused on marketing commercial real estate development and construction services.Since 1994, Dominy has owned and managed a commercial contracting company. Dominy Construction Group specializes in construction services primarily for small businesses and private institutions, including Annandale Village and several churches.While participating in a project over 15 years ago, Dominy became aware of the remarkable people who live and work at Annandale Village. Nicole Love Hendrickson is a native of Providence, Rhode Island. With a passion for service, she attended The University of Georgia where she earned a Master of Social Work Degree with a focus in community development & non-profit management. Hendrickson is a young professional with an extensive background in non-profit management, community organizing, fundraising, strategic planning and community capacity building. She was recently appointed as the Community Outreach Program Director for Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners and is tasked with developing a comprehensive outreach plan for the County at large. Prior to her current role, Hendrickson served as the Associate Director for the Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Services. READ MORE
Andrew Hixson has been a resident of Gwinnett County since 1985. His passion for outdoor activities, parks, and economic development drove him to run for Norcross City Council in 2008 where he was elected, and then reelected in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Hixson has focused primarily on Tax Increment Financing, which is referred to as TAD in Georgia. Hixson completed his Master’s Degree in Public Administration and most recently graduated from Leadership Gwinnett. Hixson currently serves as Relationship Manager at Union Bank. Hixson’s wife, Yarden, will graduate from Brenau University with a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy and is Campus Director of Brenau University in Norcross. READ MORE
Valerie Hoff has been an Anchor/Reporter for 11Alive WXIA-NBC since 1999, after choosing to leave CNN to concentrate on issues in the community where she lives. Hoff’s reporting specialty is Consumer and Money Saving News. Prompted by the economic downturn of 2008, Hoff began sharing money-saving expertise in a series of stories that sparked a local news segment called Ways to Save, which continues today. Hoff’s news reporting milestones include anchoring live coverage on CNN during the Gulf War, reporting from New York City during the infamous September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, as well as Consumer Investigation stories that have revealed expired groceries in local supermarkets and counterfeit jewelry billed as all-natural. READ MORE
Dr. Gary Martin was born and raised in New York and graduated from the University of Hartford in Connecticut with a BS degree in Business Administration. After moving back to New York City, Dr. Martin landed a job with Dun and Bradstreet as a business/credit analyst. From there, he went to work for the A.C. Nielsen Company (Nielsen TV Ratings) as a TV audience researcher and analyst.In 1978, Dr. Martin moved to Atlanta, after having received a corporate promotion. He eventually left Nielsen and went to work for Cox Broadcasting Corporation (WSB-TV and radio) as a research and programming analyst. READ MORE
David McLeroy is a Norcross, Georgia native and has served on the Norcross City Council since 2002. Councilman McLeroy’s goal is to understand and implement the desires of Norcross community residents. One of McLeroy’s latest goals is the redevelopment of Buford Highway in the Norcross area. A businessman since 1993, McLeroy is the hands-on owner of Concrete Replacement Specialists, Inc. where quality is not sacrificed for price. McLeroy serves as Secretary of the Viper Club of Georgia and Vice President of High Falls Hunting Club. McLeroy has been married to Michele for over 18 years and has two twin daughters, Brittany and Nicole. READ MORE
Matt McNeill has lived in the Atlanta area since elementary school. After graduating from high school in Gwinnett County and obtaining a Computer Engineering degree from Georgia Tech, Matt completed his law degree at Georgia State University. Matt practices as an intellectual property lawyer at Alston & Bird, where his practice includes all areas of intellectual property litigation and counseling, with a particular emphasis on patent litigation and enforcement. Ed Nunez has been a dedicated employee at Annandale Village since 2011. As Manager of Residential Services, Nunez plays a crucial role in bridging solid relationships between staff, residents, and their families. Nunez was raised and educated in the state of New York and was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. He has a passion and dedication for individuals with disabilities that spans over 20 years. Experiences include advocacy for mental and learning disabilities, as well as for those affected with HIV. Nunez is a compassionate professional that strives to replace disability with ability. Identifying opportunities for inclusion for all residents of Annandale Village remains his priority. READ MORE
David Pollan has been practicing exclusively in the area of elder law and special needs issues affecting the younger disabled community since 1990. After obtaining an undergraduate degree from Boston University, Pollan completed his law degree at Emory University School of Law and now practices at The Pollan Law Firm in Atlanta. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and has served the elder and disabled communities through his work with AARP, Atlanta Regional Committee Aging Services Board, the Senior Citizens’ Law Project, the Elder Law Committee of the State Bar of Georgia, the Georgia Community Trust, and Weinstein Hospice. Pollan is also a member of the Georgia ElderCare Network, a statewide alliance of professionals assisting Georgia families to plan and deal with the issues of aging. READ MORE
Lisa Sherman has resided in Gwinnett County since moving with her parents in 1994. Her career began in Agricultural Equipment Marketing for Fortune 500 giant, AGCO Corporation. In 2007, Sherman joined the Gwinnett Chamber to launch marketing and public relations efforts for the global award-winning initiative, Partnership Gwinnett. Almost ten years later, Sherman is fully immersed in local government, leading economic development for the City of Lawrenceville, Georgia. READ MORE
Brooke Waters is the current Program Coordinator for Leadership Gwinnett. Her main focus is planning and execution of Glance Gwinnett, Leadership Gwinnett’s newest 2.5 day program, as well as alumni activities, marketing, and promotional initiatives. Prior to her employment with Leadership Gwinnett, Brooke started her career with Gwinnett County Government, serving in Recorder’s Court, as well as the Solicitor’s Office. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Georgia College & State University and her Master of Business Administration Degree from Brenau University. READ MORE
